As a manager, managing your thoughts in the workplace is an absolute necessity.  You can use team building workshops to help develop thought management.

You run a team with a series of tasks to perform and the completion of those should be your priority.  Your team are assigned tasks based on their abilities and you rely on conference and event management companies to organize staff training and development workshops to keep your team motivated, organizing award functions to recognise team performance and ensuring that everyone on the team performs to their best every day.  But are you also performing at your best?  Sure, you may be making the right decisions, but is there some slack in the system? 

Your team can only do what you instruct team, and if you are not 100% then by the same rational, neither are your team.   You need to be thinking of team building ideas and team building programs for employees as well as ensure that you are operating with the completion of your project as your total focus in order to both lead your team and convince senior management that you are fully in control.

This is where the basics of Thought Management help make you a better and more focused manager.  By removing the unnecessary, you ensure that the information that you pass out to your team is not only right but also appropriate to the project.   The major tenets of Thought Management are:

  • Thought Awareness.  Understand your train of thoughts and discard the unnecessary.  Discard negative thoughts by focussing on the positive only and necessary aspects of your work and project.
  • Rational Thinking. You need to have 100% certainty of what you and your team are trying to achieve, and how best to do it. Your project must have defined limits, and if it doesn’t or has some aspects that are under defined. Make a point of getting them closed out by whoever has the responsibility.  You cannot think in rational terms if there are unknowns so you need to ensure that they are removed or resolved.
  • Positive Thinking. Your project or team may encounter problems that were unforeseen and these can quickly become negative issues.  You need to maintain a positive attitude whenever this occurs and meet the new challenge with a positive frame of mind.  If it has features that you and your team are not equipped to deal with.  Hand them over to someone who is rather than build negative thoughts about it.

By maintaining these three rules, you will start to banish both the negative and the spurious thoughts that are holding you back and preventing you being a mentally efficient as possible.   Once you have attained that mental situation, you will notice a huge difference in how you manage your team, your managers, and your everyday dealings with other people.

Positive thought is infectious and if you lead the way, your team will follow.  You can effectively communicate and spread positive thought through team building seminars or team building workshops that use experiential learning to impact behavioral change.  It is very easy to fall into a trap of negative thinking which can spiral down into overpowering and destructive thoughts and can overwhelm you, and learning to resist this is one of the biggest challenges in Thought Management. But make it through and learn to recognise negative issues before they can take hold and you – and those around you - will notice the positive difference in your style.
